Medan – Presiden Joko Widodo melakukan kunjungan kerja ke Sumatera Utara pada hari Rabu (7/2) untuk meresmikan sejumlah proyek infrastruktur, termasuk Jalan Tol Trans Sumatera.
Kedatangan Presiden Jokowi di Bandara Internasional Kuala Namu (KNO) pada pukul 18.20 WIB disambut hangat oleh Forkopimda Sumatera Utara sebelum melanjutkan perjalanan menuju Hotel JW Marriot Medan untuk menghadiri kegiatan internal.
Hari kedua kunjungan, Presiden Jokowi bersama rombongan memulai agenda dengan menuju Gerbang Tol Limapuluh pada pukul 07.30 WIB. Pada pukul 09.15 WIB, Presiden meresmikan Jalan Tol Trans Sumatera dengan peninjauan, penjelasan panel, dan menyapa masyarakat, serta menekan tombol sirine sebagai tanda peresmian. Acara tersebut dihadiri oleh sekitar 100 orang dari berbagai kalangan masyarakat dan anak sekolah.
Setelah itu, Presiden Jokowi melanjutkan ke Lapangan Limapuluh untuk bertemu dengan peserta MEKAR, sebuah program pemberdayaan ekonomi bagi pedagang UMKM. Di lapangan tersebut, sekitar 4.500 pedagang UMKM hadir untuk bersilaturahmi dengan Presiden.
Selanjutnya, Presiden Jokowi dan rombongan menuju Tebing Tinggi untuk makan siang di sebuah restoran setempat sebelum melanjutkan ke RSUD Kumpulan Pane Tebing Tinggi. Di sana, Presiden bertemu dengan penerima Kartu Indonesia Sehat (KIS) yang melibatkan 1.000-2.000 masyarakat.
Rencananya, pada hari terakhir kunjungan, Presiden Jokowi akan melanjutkan agenda kegiatan yang masih bersifat tentatif sebelum kembali ke Jakarta pada sore hari.
