Osaka,-Justin Hubner absen memperkuat Garuda Muda melawan Guinea pada play-off Olimpiade 2024 di Clairefontaine, Paris, Perancis, Kamis (9/5/2024). Cerezo Osaka resmi menolak permintaan PSSI untuk melepas Hubner.
Presiden Cerezo Osaka Hiroaki Morishima, menyatakan telah menolak permintaan dari PSSI untuk melepas Hubner untuk tampil dalam laga Indonesia vs Guinea. Morishima mengungkapkan faktor cedera pemain yang membuat pihak klub tidak bisa melepas Hubner.
Hubner baru saja kembali ke Cerezo setelah membela Timnas Indonesia U-23 di Piala Asia U-23 2024. H-1 jelang Indonesia vs Guinea, Hubner masih berlatih di Cerezo Osaka.
“Saya menerima permintaan dari PSSI untuk diberangkatkan, namun saya secara resmi menolak permintaan tersebut beberapa hari lalu. Ada banyak pemain yang cedera (di Cerezo Osaka) dan sedang bersiap untuk pertandingan melawan (Vissel) Kobe,” ucapnya.
Sebelumnya Hubner jadi salah satu nama pemain yang diusahakan PSSI untuk bisa tampil di Indonesia vs Guinea. Lobi pun dilakukan PSSI kepada Cerezo yang pada akhirnya berujung penolakan.
Selain Hubner, PSSI juga melobi Ipswich Town agar Elkan Baggott agar dilepas di laga melawan Guinea. Akan tetapi hingga kini tidak ada tanda-tanda Baggott akan dilepas oleh klub yang baru saja promosi ke Liga Inggris tersebut.
