Solo,-Penyerang Timnas Mali U-17, Salif Noah Leintu, merasa sangat terkesan dengan dukungan yang diberikan masyarakat Indonesia. Hal yang ia rasakan selama menjalani pertandingan di Piala Dunia U-17 2023.
Saat menghadapi Prancis di semifinal, Timnas Mali justru mendapat dukungan dari penonton yang hadir di Stadion Manahan. Bagi Saif, sokongan semacam ini terasa sangat spesial.
“Saya cukup terkejut di tengah pertandingan, saya mendengar para penonton meneriakkan dukungan untuk negara kami, ‘Mali, Mali, Mali’. Ini sangat mengejutkan saya,” ucap Saif dalam keterangan tertulis LOC Piala Dunia U-17 pada Kamis (30/11/2023).
Menurut Saif, dukungan tersebut mungkin tak terlepas dari gaya permainan The Eagles. Ia merasa penampilan atraktif mereka di lapangan membuat penonton merasa terhibur, sehingga menyemangati Mali.
“Saya pikir, dukungan penonton Indonesia ini tak terlepas dari permainan sepak bola kami yang atraktif. Jadi, mereka menyukainya dan mendukung kami karena gaya permainan itu,” ujar pemain asal klub Amerika Serikat, Bethesda Olney itu.
Kini, para pemain Mali sudah melupakan kegagalan mereka melaju ke final Piala Dunia U-17 2023. Mereka sudah mulai mengalihkan fokus untuk menghadapi Argentina U-17 pada babak perebutan peringkat ketiga.
Pertandingan ini berlangsung di Stadion Manahan, Solo, Jumat (1/12/2023) pukul 19.00 WIB. Saif menyebut, rekan-rekannya memiliki ambisi yang besar untuk menggulung La Albiceleste demi membawa pulang medali perunggu.
“Kami sudah menyadari bahwa pertandingan terakhir telah berakhir, jadi kami menganggap laga ini (perebutan tempat ketiga) seperti final. Semua pemain sudah mengalihkan konsentrasinya untuk menghadapi pertandingan ini,” kata pemain berpostur 182 cm tersebut.
Mali tampil impresif selama perhelatan Piala Dunia U-17, mereka lolos dari grup sebagai runner up. Mereka menjadi tim tersubur yang mencetak 8 gol dan kebobolan 2 gol.
Pada fase kock out (fase gugur), tim berjuluk Les Aigles atau Sang Elang itu menumbangkan Meksiko 5-0. Mereka lalu mengalahkan Maroko 1-0 sebelum lolos ke semifinal dan dikalahkan Prancis 2-1.
