Medan,-Pemko Medan melalui Bagian Sumber Daya Alam (SDA) Setda Kota Medan menggelar sosialisasi pengendalian inflasi daerah melalui penerapan pertanian perkotaan (urban farming) di Hotel Grand Mercure, Selasa (14/11).
Sosialisasi yang dibuka oleh Wali Kota Medan, Bobby Nasution diwakili Asisten Perekonomian dan Pembangunan Setda Kota Medan, Agus Suriyono tersebut mendorong para kader PKK Kota Medan agar dapat memanfaatkan perkarangan sebagai lahan pertanian.
“Urban farming harus terus di dorong untuk pemenuhan kebutuhan pangan, langkah ini penting dilakukan sebagai upaya kita dalam mengendalikan inflasi daerah,”kata Agus Suriyono dalam sambutanya.
Dijelaskan Agus Suriyono, saat ini kondisi global yang tidak menentu memberikan dampak pada kehidupan, salah satunya berdampak terhadap krisis pangan. Harga pangan yang melonjak tinggi tentunya menimbulkan keresahan bagi masyarakat.
“Kenaikan harga pangan berdampak terhadap inflasi daerah. Karenanya berbagai langkah harus kita ambil untuk menjaga kestabilan harga kebutuhan pokok, salah satunya dengan melakukan transformasi sistem pangan di kota melalui penerapan urban farming,”jelas Agus Suriyono.
Langkah ini dikatakan Agus Suriyono menjadi solusi yang diharapkan mampu menjawab permasalahan terkait inflasi. Meskipun daerah perkotaan seperti kota Medan sangat terbatas akan lahan namun tidak menutup kemungkinan diadakanya urban farming.
“Dengan adanya urban farming menjadikan sistem pangan yang berkelanjutan, bahkan sistem ini sudah diterapkan di kota-kota lainya di dunia seperti Italia dan juga Singapura. Dengan penerapan urban farming mereka mampu memenuhi 30% kebutuhan panganya sendiri,”sebut Agus Suriyono.
Demi mencapai hal tersebut, Agus Suriyono menilai aspek penting yang harus diperhatikan adalah melalui pendekatan holistik dan berkelanjutan mulai dari tata ruang, teknologi pertanian pangan (agrifood) dan pengembangan tenaga ahli pertanian (agri specialist).
“Hal ini akan menjadi sebuah keniscayaan yang dapat kita lakukan dikota Medan mengingat kita memiliki ketersediaan lahan yang lebih dari cukup dibandingkan dengan Singapura,”pungkasnya.
Dalam sosialisasi yang juga dihadiri oleh Staf Ahli Wali Kota Medan Bidang Ekonomi, Keuangan, dan Pembangunan, Emilia Lubis, tersebut diberikan pemahaman kepada para peserta terkait langkah tepat dalam penerapan urban farming.
Sebelumnya Kepala Bagian SDA Setda Kota Medan, Mulia Rahmad Nasution dalam laporanya menyampaikan pertanian perkotaan (urban farming) memiliki banyak manfaat dalam pemenuhan kebutuhan manusia dalam hal ini sebagai penyiapan langkah intervensi untuk mengatasi kenaikan harga bahan pangan di Kota Medan melalui pemenuhan kebutuhan pangan dasar manusia.
“Selain itu juga banyak manfaat lain yakni, ketersediaan udara bersih, hingga sarana rekreasi. Dengan menerapkan pertanian di kota, kita sudah berkontribusi pada pelestarian lingkungan”kata Mulia Rahmad Nasution didampingi Ketua Tim Lingkup Pertanian, Kelautan dan Perikanan SDA Setda Kota Medan, Rosita Deslina Yanti Siregar.
Dalam sosialisasi ini juga menghadirkan narasumber dari Dinas Ketahanan Pangan, Pertanian dan Perikanan Kota Medan, Penyuluh Pertanian Madya pada Dinas Ketahanan Pangan, Tanaman Pangan dan Holtikultura Provinsi Sumatera Utara, Ir. Rismauli B. Gultom, MP dan Kepala Divisi Pengembangan Produk PT. TANI MAS SUBUR Medan (Aktivis Pertanian) Eddy Susanto.
