Medan, -Di hari jadi Kota Medan ke 434, Pemko Medan melalui Dinas Ketenagakerjaan (Disnaker) kota Medan memberikan kado istimewa berupa perlindungan BPJS Ketenagakerjaan kepada 14 ribu lebih pekerja disektor informal.
BPJS Ketenagakerjaan tersebut diserahkan langsung oleh Wali Kota Medan, Bobby Nasution secara simbolis kepada Kader PKK, Kader Posyandu, Guru dan Tenaga Kependidikan (GTK) swasta SD dan SMP di kota Medan usai berlangsungnya upacara bendera dalam rangka hari jadi Kota Medan ke 434.
Kepala Dinas Ketenagakerjaan Kota Medan, Illyan Chandra Simbolon saat dikonfirmasi mengatakan pemberian perlindungan BPJS Ketenagakerjaan kepada para pekerja disektor informal tersebut sebagai bentuk kepedulian Wali Kota Medan, Bobby Nasution kepada para pekerja dikota Medan.
“Pak Bobby sangat peduli terhadap para pekerja kita sehingga semalam pada saat upacara hari jadi kota Medan, Pak Bobby menyerahkan perlindungan BPJS Ketenagakerjaan kepada pekerja informal kita sebanyak 14.814 orang,” kata Illyan Chandra Simbolon diruang kerjanya, Selasa (2/7).
Dikatakan Illyan Chandra Simbolon saat ini total jumlah pekerja di sektor informal sebanyak 214.555 orang. Disnaker Kota Medan menargetkan sebanyak 29% dari jumlah tersebut atau sekitar 60.464 orang akan dilindungi dengan kepesertaan BPJS Ketenagakerjaannya dengan dua program manfaat yaitu Jaminan Kematian (JKM) dan Jaminan Kecelakaan Kerja (JKK).
“Sektor pekerja informal ini sangat perlu untuk dilindungi, ini juga sesuai dengan program Pemerintah Pusat,”ujar Illyan Chandra Simbolon.
Apalagi Illyan Chandra Simbolon menyebutkan para pekerja informal yang diberikan perlindungan BPJS Ketenagakerjaan kemarin merupakan para pekerja yang bersentuhan langsung dalam melayani masyarakat.
“Kita ketahui kader posyandu, kader PKK dan guru merupakan ujung tombak kita dalam melayani masyarakat sehingga sudah sepantasnya mereka mendapatkan perlindungan jaminan sosial,”sebut Illyan Chandra Simbolon.
Upaya Pemko Medan dalam mengcover para pekerja informal agar mendapatkan perlindungan BPJS Ketenagakerjaan tersebut tidak terlepas dari dukungan dan kolaborasi dari berbagai pihak termasuk pihak swasta dalam hal ini perusahaan. Melalui program Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), Illyan Chandra Simbolon mengatakan perusahaan banyak membantu Pemerintah Kota dalam melindungi masyarakatnya.
“Untuk itu saya ucapkan terimakasi kepada perusahaan yang sudah ikut berpatisipasi dan banyak membantu berjalanya program ini, semoga kedepanya semakin banyak lagi perusahaan yang mau ikut membantu mengcover pekerja informal kita sehingga target 29% tersebut dapat segera kita capai,”harap Illyan Chandra Simbolon.
